Frequently Asked Questions

Mr Mohil has private clinics at the Beardwood Hospital in
Blackburn, Ramsay Fulwood Hospital in Preston and HCA The Wilmslow Hospital.

If you would like to see Mr Mohil privately, you can contact
us directly on 01625 466 158 and we will find the next available appointment that is most suited to your needs. If you are accessing private treatment via your private medical insurance provider, you will need to check with them whether they need a GP referral letter to authorise your consultation and any required treatment.

The benefit of accessing private healthcare, means that we
can usually book you an appointment to see Mr Mohil within 2 weeks of your first enquiry.

If you have a GP referral letter, please bring it with you for your first appointment. If you have already had any scans or test, please bring these with you if you have them.

Your first appointment will last 30 minutes, as Mr Mohil will take a detailed history and will examine you based on your condition. He will then discuss a treatment plan with you and next steps.

If you are paying for your treatment yourself, a first consultation with Mr Mohil costs £200, and follow up consultation costs £120. If your insurer is paying for treatment, please check with them regarding your policy excess.

Depending on your condition/injury, Mr Mohil will advise you during your consultation on whether you need an x-ray to confirm his diagnosis. Normally, you will be able to have an x-ray at the same time as your appointment, and Mr Mohil will contact you with the results.

Occasionally, Mr Mohil will advise of further tests required
for diagnosis. He may request a scan which is usually arranged for another day. We make every effort to reduce your need to attend the hospital for multiple appointments.

If Mr Mohil decides that you need a surgical procedure, you will be given all the information and allowed time to think about whether to proceed with surgery. If you decide to have an operation, we will gain your consent and find an available date that is convenient for you, and book your surgery for you.

Once you have decided to go ahead with having surgery, if
you have private medical insurance, you need to contact your insurance provider and provide them with a procedure code for your operation. Your insurer will then provide you with an authorisation code that you need to provide to the hospital to book your surgery.

The different types of procedures are day case operations
where you would be admitted in the morning for your operation and discharged in the afternoon or early evening. An inpatient procedure is where you would need to stay in hospital overnight to help with your recovery. Mr Mohil will explain to you what type of procedure you will be having when you discuss your operation.

Depending on the type of operation you are having, you may
require a general anaesthetic or a local anaesthetic. A general anaesthetic is where you will be put to sleep for the duration of the surgery and is considered the best type of anaesthesia for more complex procedures. A local anaesthetic is where you are awake during surgery, and only the area where you are having the operation is numbed. Even though you are awake, you will not feel pain but you may feel movement or pressure. Mr Mohil will discuss with you the type of anaesthetic you will need for your surgery.

Following your operation you will be taken to recovery,
where you will be monitored whilst the effects of the anaesthetic wear off. The recovery nursing team will help manage the level of discomfort and administer pain relief and make you more comfortable.

All types of surgery carry a risk of complications, however, fortunately the risk is small, but we need to make you aware of possible complications. Problems arising from having surgery can include wound
infection, wound not healing properly, experiencing ongoing pain and
discomfort.
